I have an old, old pipe leaking in the bathroom ceiling of my condo. How should I have the leaking pipe replac

This pipe appears to have been repaired a long time ago, by wrapping it in some sort of aluminum material plus some type of tape. This condo building was built in 1973. This is the first time it has leaked since I have lived here. I bought this condo in 1998. I removed the ceiling panel that was under the leak to prevent any dammage to my ceiling and also to prevent water from overflowing into the bathroom ceiling of the condo below me. I think this is a water supply pipe, but I’m not sure. The leak drips into my shower now. It is a very slow drip. What is the best way to have the pipe replaced? How costly will it be? Thanks for your help!

first you have to found out if it is a water supply pipe (what size is the pipe?)
You can repair the leak yourself, not too difficult
Is it ABS, copper white or blue plastic?
If it is a small leak you can temporary fix it by plugging it with a pencil lead and tape
If you have any room to move pipe a couple of inches you can repair yourself
If it is a supply line you will have to shut of water,turn taps on to drain water out of supply line, cut the line (have a pail ready for excess water)get 2 unions and a piece of pipe the same size and install
If there is no movement available in pipe before you cut out a piece call a plumber, will probally have to remove ceiling to get at more pipe.
Very hard to estimate cost without actually seeing what is involved.

repaired leak from a nail in supply pipe friday and cost customer$65.00
