The most “pain” is right after an appt, when everything has been tightened. Usually it’s not worth noting, but if you don’t like it, take a tylenol or ibuprofen for that day. It’s not that bad. The most painful part, outside of surgery (if required — many don’t need it), would be the powerchain. Even that only lasts a day or two, and can be easily subdued with an over the counter pill. You might get a little chaffing from the wires rubbing against your cheeks or inside lip. Use dental wax until it goes away. It would be a lie to say there’s NO pain involved, but honestly I’ve had some pretty extensive work done and the pain for any of it was far, far worth the end result. The best thing you can do for yourself is 1. don’t miss appts, that lengthens the process, sometimes even have to redo parts. 2. brush, floss (best as possible) and use mouthwash. Congrats – in a few short years, it’s all behind you and it’ll be worth it
