Shoes with an arch support?

Are there any shoes that have a good arch support without buying inserts? If you go and look into the shoes, most are completely flat on the insole, surprise feet aren’t flat on the bottom! I am on my feet all the time, so far New Balance is the best I can find, but even they aren’t comfortable.

This is tough because we can recommend shoes for you, and you’ll be miserable. All shoes are built to suit the average human.

You don’t want to hear this, but you might really benefit from orthotics. An orthopedist can make a world of difference, and it’s not a painful or very expensive process.

Once you get your arch figured out, go to a professional running store. The good ones sometimes have sophisticated computer equipment to analysis your strike pattern, measure your feet, etc. Get shoes that suit your tendencies (heel strike, pronate, supinate, etc.)

We had two people on our team suffering. When they finally broke down, one saw a podiatrist and the other visited an orthopedic specialist. Both finished the season in orthotics, and shed back and knee pains along the way.

No shoe alone will fix this…
