Why are the arches on the inside of my feet cramping when I skate?

I’ve had my skates for about 2 years. Within the last year I’ve been getting shooting pain in my arches when I skate. It doesn’t happen all the time though. Someone mentioned getting arch supports in my skates. Would this eliminate the problem?
Or is it happening for a different reason?

There are many reasons why this could be happening.

Your skates are a little old, and might be too worn out. Another possibility might be that you aren’t stretching your feet before you put your skates on, it sounds weird, but it’s true. Whenever I don’t stretch my feet and toes, they cramp up.

I would try the supports to see if they help and also the stretching. If that doesn’t work, try seeing what jumps or movements make your arches hurt, maybe you need to change the way you’re turning your feet. If none of this helps, you might want to look into getting fitted for new skates.
