What muscles are out of commission when an arm is in a sling?

While painting her house, Sally fell off the ladder and fractured her right clavicle. Treatment prescribed by the emergency room physician included using a sling for her right arm to immobilize the clavicle and speed its healing. What muscles are temporarily “put out of business” by the sling?

Every single one in your arm. If you aren’t using it then it is not in use, its just being supported by the sling. Every once in a while that shoulder may tighten up when you are doing various things with the other arm, but thats about it. Extremely little to no exercise.
