Anyone know how to bypass the automatic detection test strips expired with the Accu-Chek Aviva?

My Accu-Chek Aviva mature in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone has found a way to avoid the automatic detection of the maturity bands. They are so expensive, do not discard.

Will a warning that the tapes have expired, but the bands are still working, but the readings may not be accurate. I used the tape has expired before … although they been a few days …
