Band Sports

How many of you go to school AND work AND have band or sports?
It was all I could do to graduate. Students who juggle school, a job, and extracrurricular activities blow me away, plus most also have a boyfriend or girlfriend and many also care for brothers and sisters. How do you manage? Do you ever think you’re doing too much? Do you have a choice?
I asked this before, but the stories were so fascinating that I had to ask ask again. What are your stories?
I go to a college-prep school (and an all guys one at that). That means 3+ hours of homework per night (tonight I have 5-6 – and wisely spending it here, huh?). I have a GPA of 3.75 (which would be higher if it didn’t take all CP, HNS, and AP classes). I also work over 25 hours a week, and am involved in the school plays, as well as tutoring a kid after school. I attend youth group and am involved in the planning committee, planning meetings, events, etc. I play piano and take lessons (helps with a bit of stress; there’s nothing like sitting down and bustin’ out some Bruce Hornsby). I’m in NHS and am also taking a college class (German 104).
Why I do all this? I just got involved in one thing after another, and soon everything piled up. I know I’m doing too much, but I do it because I feel I need to. I especially like my job – I hate getting money from other people, and want to (and am forced to) pay for almost everything myself. Many things I do because I don’t want to let people down. I was fine until my junior year, when my school got really rough. With a messed-up family, the situation got unbearable, and I started smoking to manage stress. Now at 18, a pack a day, I’m continuing on fine and able to manage my load. Its fun at times (paycheck days) and other times it pisses me off. But that’s life, I guess.
