Bathroom Safety Grip

How high up should I position a bathtub safety grip?
We’ve re-done our entire bathroom and are about to install a bathtub hand rail safety grip which is maybe around 30cm long. The bathtub runs along a tiled wall, and we’ve pretty much decided that the grip should go lengthwise horizontally above the bathtub – and centred along the length of the bathtub – but my question is How High Above The Bath?
Our plumber suggested omitting it because they can be unattractive and are more suited to elderly people, but this one has a simple contemporary design and should look OK as long as it seems close to the bathtub and not smack in the middle of the wall.
He also suggested installing it at an angle, but although that might be good in terms of safety, I think it would stand out too much.
Mostly I’m looking for opinions which agree with the horizontal centred placement but which could help me decide on the height, but all suggestions are welcome.

A hand rail is for Safety. Forget how good it looks. It should be within easy reach if you are in the Tub. Or within reach just getting in or out. Horizontal is a bad position as it can never be just right. Go with the Plumbers advice. Go with the Angle.
