Raising the temperature of water?

Imagine that your water heater has broken, but you want to take a bath. You fill your bathtub with 25kg of room-temperature water (about 25 C). You figure that you can boil water on the stove and pour it into the bath to raise the temperature.

This is simple. We’ll start by explaining the process, and then it’ll be simple for you as well. What we do look at what we have, compare it what we want and note that the final temperature of the water is determined by the average temperature of the two water bodies we’re combining with respect to the percentage of the body they’ll join to make.

We have 25kg of water at 25 celsius. We want to make it 37C using boiling (100 C) water.

if added another 25kg of water at 100 C, the temperature would be 50% substance a and 50% substance B. 25g of each would be simple to figure out an average temperature for –
25 + 100 = 125. 125/2 = 62.5 C. That’s too hot for our widdle toesy woesies. Our temperature shift was (62.5-25) 37.5 celsius. We want a temperature shift of (37-25) 12 C.
37.5/12 = 3.125. If we add a little over one third of 25kg of water to the mixture, it should evenly distribute to 37 C without temperature loss. So our final answer is 25kg/3.125= 8kg of boiling water. Voila! Now, it’s simple for you as well.
