Bayer Contour Glucose

does the normal range for glucose depend on the test strips you use?
I’m confused, I thought the normal range for glucose was 80-120 mg/dl. on my container that holds the strips the range says 107-148 mg/dl. I called the company and asked why and she said it is because that is the range the strips are made to check for. it is the Bayer Ascensia contour. So, when i tested my sugar this morning when I woke up it was 86. So, going my standard, it was ok, but going by what the container said it was 20 points too low. So, which do I go by?
thanks
That 107-148 mg/dl test strip is for calibration purposes. So, if you use the calibration liquid (fake blood thing) and use it on the test strip, the reading should be between 107-148 mg/dl. If it is out of range, it means that either the test strips are no good or your blood glucose meter is broken.
