What’s the most pain in the butt car engine you have worked on?

I have worked on a few and the most annoying little piece of crap i have ever worked on is the 2 litre Holden Camira, or I suppose in England it would be the Vauhxhall. America I’m not sure what it would be badged as? but the stupid thing has that many hoses and wiring and overhead cam, stupid timing belt and adjustable water-pump, AAARRRHHHHH!!! It drove me mad. Why cant they just stick with the good ol fashioned engines? Motor, Trans, Carby, Dizzy, Starter, Nice and easy, but no, now days you lift up the bonnet and all you see is a mess of hoses and crap, Try changing the oil on a VW POLO? Give me the ol V8’s any day.

According to Wikipedia, it sounds like that would be a J-car here in America. Chevrolet Cavalier, Pontiac Sunbird, Oldsmobile Firenza, Buick Skyhawk, Cadillac Cimarron, and other minor variations. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to Transverse engines, but I don’t think they’re that bad.

The worst engine I’ve had much experience with overall, would be a Saab 900. Darn thing is in there backwards, with the “front” of the engine jammed so tight up against the firewall, you can’t hardly even get at the belts.

I used to have a 67 Mercury Cougar with a FE Big-block shoehorned in so tight it needed special Exhaust Manifolds, and special bolt holes in the Cylinder Head to fit at all. But other than some of the Spark Plugs being a little rough to get to, it was a breeze to work on otherwise.
