Do I get a retainer brace if all my teeth haven’t come out?

I am 12 and I wanted to know if i get a retainer if all my teeth haven’t come out. I have an overbite and a gap in my teeth.
I only have a few left to go

I’m sure that you are able to have braces fitted even if you haven’t got your full set of adult teeth.

As ‘Baby T’ has suggested you should wait until you have your permanent teeth. This will ensure that your teeth will stay straight in the future.

If you have your braces too soon then your teeth might not stay straight for long. The reason for this being is that when more of your permanent teeth come it will push the other teeth forward. This results in crowding and a possibly an overbite.

Orthodontic treatment is free on the NHS as long as you’re under 18. Also, the conditon that you’ve described about your teeth suggests that you are likely have fixed braces instead of retainers.

Fixed braces are more effective in fixing this sort of problem than retainers.
