I wear BTE hearing aids. Has anyone used the Pockettalker Pro? If so, how do you like it?

I’m interested in going back to school to be a Pharmacy Tech. But, I’m concerned that it may not be a good career choice due to my moderate hearing loss that may get worse over time (that’s what happened to my mom.) I’m curious to know if the Pockettalker may be an option for me.

Hi there. The Pocket Talker is probably a bit too basic for an active person, hearing in a variety of situations. The sound quality is not bad. But the ‘body-worn’ box, headphones or earphones and wires are a bit too much for working people.

You could investigate the Phonak SmartLink SX communication system. ‘Boots’ are added to BTE hearing aids and the SmartLink sends sound wirelessly to the hearing aids. It increases the range of existing hearing aids. However, you have to check with an audiologist or hearing instrument practitioner that your existing hearing aids are compatible with a SmartLink.

Have you had the opportunity to do some work experience in a pharmacy yet? That will tell you how well you think you will cope in that environment. I imagine it could be quite a challenging listening situation.
