Mercedes C 200 Issues?

I have a ‘96 MB C200, and the thermometer where it shows the outside temperature is off, i couldn’t find a fuse for it or nothing like that. then I installed some HID Xenon lights on the high beam, and when i turn them on, after a few seconds the mileage digits and the clock just go off until i turn of the car then turn it back on again! how can i fix that?

Actually I used to have a crappy ‘77 Merc before.

What you should do is ram a wall. I’m not joking, mate. My odo stopped for two days. When I hit a wall the meter just bumped back to life. It jumped around random numbers but eventually settled to the proper number.. However, those two days of travelling were not documented.
