Can I swim in a lake with a waterproof cast?

Hi! I broke my wrist 3 weeks ago and they have put me in a waterproof cast. Special cotton, I think. I know it is safe to get the cast wet but I’m worried about bacteria and dirt getting in there from lakes, creeks, and rivers. (I do a lot of playing.) I’m going to a lake today and was just wondering if I should wear my cast protector in addition to the waterproof cast.

NO! I had a waterproof cast on my leg one time and i went swimming in the bay and i got an infection. Lakes have all that stuff you mentioned. Only go swimming in pools or the bathtubs Wear the cast protector!
