Anyone have experience with Accu-Chek’s Aviva meter?

And how does that alternate test site thing work? I understand it means arms, thighs, palms… but can someone explain it briefly? My fingertips are worn out from my Advantage meter.

The alternate test site is just that..another site you can use to test your sugars. However, they will give different readings from a fingertip. So it is difficult to compare the readings. You would have to always use the same alternate site in order for the results to be useful. The Advantage machine uses a faily large drop of blood, the Aviva uses a smaller one. Also, get a new lancing device. The newer ones have finer points and don’t hurt as much. In addition, do not re-use your lancets. They become dull after one use and will hurt more. As a final point, when you prick your finger, do the side of your finger, not the pad. It hurts less.
