Child car seats – anyone else about to have a nervous breakdown?

I’m interested to know if anyone else finds that designers of child car seats did not take into account that the child might want to wear a coat in the winter.
My daughter is by no means fat, but when it comes to doing her harness thing up when she is wearing a coat, I swear (yes – even in front of her), I tell it I hate it, my blood pressure goes through the roof all because I can’t get those stupid bleeping things to go in the stupid bleeping thing.
AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!

Are there any (reasonably priced) car seats out there that DO allow room for a childs coat? If not, does anyone know of anyone who might have designed them because I’d like them to come round to my house and allow me to throw darts at them.
Just to confirm, my husband says (lol) that the straps can’t be extended any further. Have I just got a really pants car seat?

The car seat is doing what it is supposed to. It is not safe to wear a coat in a car seat because they compress in a collision. You should not wear anything heavier than a fleece jacket with a car seat. Yes, I know it is winter. Take the coat off, and fasten her into her seat, then put the coat on over her harness, backwards. Or use blankets.
