Don Joy

how can I find the joy in writing?
I love writing and I want to be a novelist, but I just wrote the first page and I have read it a lot of times.I wanna make major changes to it because I don’t find the joy that I felt when I wrote it.Evertime I write a page,at first I like it then I wanna make a lot of changes.
When I have somebody else read it they like it.
Stop re-reading what you wrote!! Nit-picking your own work really takes the fun and enjoyment out of the process, for sure. Whenever I work on a book or story, I do so with the expectation that what I write today will not be perfect. My goal is to get the words out, get the basics laid down, and I’ll go back and read it later on, when my job is revising/rewriting, not just writing.
It helps if you structure your writing time. For me, I write for a couple of hours in the morning and don’t go back to look at what I wrote at all. I get a minimum of three full pages done, and then I quit and shift my focus to my “real” job of photography (processing my photos, answering emails and calls, etc.) In the evening, I re-read what I wrote that morning along with the 10 pages or so that came before it, and I take notes of what I want to change in that scene to make it work better. I don’t bother with rewriting it yet – I just keep notes on what I want to change.
When I finish the book or story, I get out my notes and go through the story page by page, then chapter by chapter, deciding whether I still want to make the first changes and polishing it up with prettier prose and more concise sentences. That is the revise/rewrite phase, which usually takes a few weeks of solid work to complete. Even then, I revise with the assumption that I’ll be instructed to change things by the agent or the editor, who will both have a fresh eye and whose business it is to know how to polish up a book so it’s worthy of being read. I leave the hardest decisions to them and just do the best I can. They get paid to pick apart books; I only get paid to write them!
So for now, just get the story out of your system and don’t worry about whether it’s perfect page-by-page. It won’t be. That’s okay. Save the worrying for when you’ve finished it and are ready to revise it.
