Why do I need a medical certificate to drive a certain size truck for my job,when anyone who rents one doesn’t?

I actually got a ticket for driving a 15′ work box truck without a certificate. A week later I rented a 24′ trom budget rentals and did not require anything but a regular license.

When renting a truck you don’t have to comply with Commercial Drivers so the rental trucks when not used for commercial use don’t need log books, medical cards or anything else but a regular license.

Commercial drivers are held to a much higher standard and need all those things.
