What do you do about people who talk waaaaaaay too much?

Talk about a severe Ressless Mouth Syndrome! I try tuning my brother out, but he just won’t let up. I’ve confronted him and he says he has the right to talk and others say, just don’t listen to him. Who said anything about listening? If I were listening, I’d be choosing to hear him. Playing the television louder than my preference is foolish, putting on earphones to listen to music is tiring – it can only go just so far and I haven’t found anything that works. There are two other people in the house and they hear him out, I think, mostly out of fear that he’ll throw a tantrum, which he does when he doesn’t get his way.
I go into my room and shut the door and tune into something else, but it just goes on and on, endlessly! While others in the house listen to him, he has no reason to stop. Oh, and he talks LOUDLY, like he was talkin’ to someone from across the Grand Canyon.

Actually people who talk like this aren’t really listening to anything except what they’re saying, so you can quite safely “tune out”, just throw in an occasional Oh yes! or really?? or yeah!!! and keep on doing whatever you are doing, he won’t notice………….
