What are medical boots for?

Okay so I snapped a bone in my ankle called the talus a few months ago, and I am still in a cast because it heals really slow. I have an appointment with my doctor soon and I am hoping I may get the cast off. However, I was wondering if I would go straight from cast to those medical walking boots. So I was wondering: does that apply to my injury? More generally, what are medical walking boots for (i.e., ankle, leg, foot injuries?) and what do they protect against?

the boot will hold your ankle steady and make sure it doesn’t move when you walk around. I am in one right now! that is what they look like. I am in the bigger one and that is the one you will get because you broke your ankle. i am pretty sure you will just go from the cast to the boot. hope i helped!
