puppy with a misfolded ear!?

I have a cane corso/boxer mix puppy who just turned five months. Her ears have not been cropped. A few days ago she was bit by another puppy on her ear. Now this ear has completely lost shape and just flops in her face. It’s as if the cartilage that forms the ear socket has been twisted and she seems to not be able to achieve the same range of motion with it as with the other ear. Is there anything that can be done for this ear to resume its natural fold? Would taping it in its natural position work or is she too old for that?

You could try to tape it, but if there is damage to the ear, it may not do much good. Also, puppies ears can and do go up and down several times while they are teething, and she is about the right age for that. My puppies ears went up and down several times while teething, finally settled in an up position at about 8 months when most of his adult teeth were in. I was told by my vet that if they were ‘up’ at one point, they will eventually be an up-eared dog, but again, if there’s damage, it may always be floppy…
