how do you set up a gait belt its for stablizing people so they don’t fall?

As a nurse, I use gait belts on a daily basis.
They are a time saver and a heaven send on your back!
First of all….. Put the belt around the waist over clothes.If you have a female patient, make sure that they are not resting on or near her breast.It can be quite painful!
Thread the belt through the “teeth” of the buckle,after you have positioned the belt over the waist.Now, there are usually 2 or 3 “lock” componets on the belt.They are either brass,chrome, or plastic.Loop the rest of belt through these locks and make sure they are secure.
I know these belts can be quite tricky.So, take your time and always be sure that the belt is locked before you try to mobilize the person.
