Glucometer Diabetic Case
By Charlie on Jan 25, 2007 in Hearing & Orthepedic

in case of a few diabetic patients after exercising blood sugar show increase instead decrease?
Generally diabetic patients asked to exercise to shed calories
which inturn lowers the glucose level and the glucometer is reading lesser than the level before exercising. But in some patients the glcometer shows a higher reading after the exercises. This looks like a paradox and this phenomeno is contradictory to nature. Some time glucometer does not show much variations. Is it due to metobolic changes has nothing todo with the glucometer readings or fault of the glucometer. kindly clarify if some else experienced the same effect.
when you do some exercises…you suppose to to loose some calories….but what else happen??
when you do some exercises…the hormone Hydrocortisone level will increase in order to increase the activity of the vital organs…
-HEART >>> to increase blood supply to other organs.
-BRAIN >>> to control the mental processes during exercise
- LUNGS >>> to use oxygen effectively.
- LIVER >>> to manage the glucose supply.
and the Hydrocortisone level is controlled in normal people by the presence of INSULIN normally all the time and when ever is needed.
BUT in DIABETICS…it is difficult to control the glucose level which became HIGH after doing sport because of the INSULIN shortage or absence.
so lets do it simply….
1) you are having some physical activity…Hydrocortisone level will be increased to meet your body demands of blood and glucose.
2) if you were a normal person…INSULIN will control your elevated blood glucose to become normal again…BUT if your were a DIABETIC >>> NO INSULIN IS PRESENT >>> HIGH GLUCOSE LEVEL WONT BE CONTROLLED BY IT SELF…and you will have high glucose levels on your glucose meter after exercises.
i hope you took it well.
best wishes.
