Is it recommended that you use a Glucose meter if you have Asthma?

My nephew has asthma, and wants to know if it is recommended that you use a glucose meter ?

A glucose meter measures the sugar (blood glucose) and has nothing to do with asthma. The only use for this is if you are taking steroids such as prednisone which will raise you blood glucose level or if your MD suggest it. If the MD suggest that you get a glucometer, he may suspect that you may have early diabetes.
