Does anyone have experience with any Continuous Glucose Monitoring Device?

I am looking into getting one and I really want to hear from others who have tried or own one. Which one was it, how did you feel inserting, did you feel safer with it on? General experience?
It isn’t covered at all, this will be a 100% out of pocket cost. I really want to get into great shape and maybe be able to run a marathon in the next few years. But I am scared of having lots of lows and quiting the process. So I am looking into this, but because of the huge cost I want to hear from others to see if it will be worth it. Thanks Mozz.

Are you the one who answered my question yesterday? Anyway, I’ve only been on it for a week, but I love having it on. It’s odd having yet another thing sticking out of me, but it’s comfortable and I’m used to it, no problems sleeping or showering with it. I have good hypoawareness, so I’m not depending on mine to alert me to low BG’s, I’m using it more to help me figure out temp basal rates, dual wave times, how to deal with PMS and hormones, etc. After one week, the reports you can print out with all the data is very interesting! My doc will be reviewing it tomorrow and coming up with some initial recommendations for me, then we’ll look at it together every couple of weeks or so. One thing to remember is that you shouldn’t depend on it to tell you your BG right now. Your meter is much more accurate…the sensor readings are delayed by 20-30 min. But it does help you identify trends. Are you positive your insurance won’t cover it? Just in the last few weeks a lot more insurance companies have gotten on board with it, so try again if you’ve been denied in the past. If it won’t, do you have a flex reimbursement plan through work? If you can wait until January, you can use your plan to deduct some money out of each paycheck to cover the cost more smoothly, but you can still get the CGMS sent to you right at the beginning of the year.
