What does it mean when your glucose test (28 week labs) comes back high?

My glucose test finally came back (wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to take them) but they came back at 162 when they said that normal range is up to 130. So what does that mean now? What is the 3 hour test I have to take?

Ugh I had to take this test and it makes you feel like crap. Basically all it is that they’re checking to see how well your body processes sugar. In your case because your reading is high the doc will most likely require you to come back for another test which if I remember correctly is the 3 hr test you refer to rather than the 1 hr test you did the first time which will prove if you really do have gestational diabetes. Basically after drinking the glucose solution your blood will be drawn & will be tested every hr for 3 hrs. I wouldn’t worry too much at this point because most of time even though you may have a high reading you most likely won’t turn out to have diabetes. Remember during pregnancy your body is going through a lot of changes and hormones are being elevated so just keep a straight head for now i’m sure you will be fine.
