Why don’t they teach about self injury prevention in schools?

When i was in Health class i noticed that we were learning about eating disorders(which is considered to be self injury), but things like cutting weren’t mentioned. I think if they actually taught people what it really is some people could spared being sucked into it. And maybe some ignorant comments could be avoided. It’s not like the school officials don’t know that it happens. They just choose to ignore it, and I just don’t understand. If u hav an eating disorder people don’t usually try to publicly humiliate you by making jokes about your pain. Teaching about it in schools could help people understand. plus just like drugs it is an addiction.

Ask your teacher. In my school, and in all my past schools (I’ve been to a few, since I’m an International student), we’ve learnt about drugs, psychological self-abuse (such as cutting), and the cultural differences in what some may be considered to be abuse (circumsition, for example).
It will also depend on the syllabus. If some parents request it to be specifically avoided, the school will have to. These topics are quite touchy, particularly amongst teachers. The school probably opts not to discuss these in case it offends or arouses curiosity within students.
