Does sex hurt more than a Pap test?

I’ve never had sex. I had a pap test this week and it hurt so much that I felt faint at first, like I was going to pass out. Then she had to find a different sized thingy (and insert the damn thing again!) but I complained so she used the same sized one. It hurt like hell and I was so glad when it was over. Is sex this bad? What bothers me is I’m sure that pap gun is thinner than a man’s you know…

For me the difference is: when you’re having sex, you’re (hopefully) into it. This means your body is relaxed, you’re open down there, naturally lubricated, and ready. You’re probably also in a romantic, trusting mood with your partner. A pap smear is done in a doctor’s office, a clinical, non-sexy environment. It’s normal that you would feel super-uncomfortable, especially if you’ve never had sex before and aren’t used to having a lot of stuff up in there.

I think you definitely shouldn’t worry about having sex. Everyone’s first time is different, and it can hurt a little, especially the first time, but in general the feelings of pleasure, love, lust, etc, make you feel really good. I mean, if it wasn’t good, why would so many people do it?
