Knee Brace Support

What is the difference between open and closed patella and patella knee brace?
I am thinking of buying a knee support since I have I ran and grabbed his right knee bothers sometimes. Could someone explain the difference between open and closed patella? Also I have a bony prominence (I think it is called Osgood schlatters) under my knee, which affects me physically, but this would affect my decision to choose one or the other?
Want to open dancing, one with an opening for the patella (kneecap). This will allow you to move much more freely.
