Cause and treatment of pain in the leg near the ankle?

I have pain in my right leg, just above the ankle, outside of the leg. I have pain when I run or walk. the ankle is fine. The pain feels like shin splints, that painful. I usually run four miles four days a week. I have not run in a week but the pain has not disappeared. What kind of injury Could (stress fracture, ligament, etc)? Is it just needs to rest more, or is nothing can be done? Thanks

Its not a fracture definetlely bad you say. If it broke, so they couldnt even put pressure on him!. Good I think it's a little less effort. As As your walking so much and if you put too much pressure on the foot I think we are all focusing on the muscles of the leg. Yes, this is not bone. Its just that the muscles around it. I think I broke it and become stronger. Welll this is what to do: try not to put too much pressure on it while running or you can stop running for a couple of days.
