mattress does not fit, I can do?

I want to fix my room and turn my bed platform bed that I am planning to visit. My problem is my double mattress is 80 "long, and the space where I want to go is 77." "I can try to force the mattress in place? I am part of a good size platform (77 ") to fit in the space, and put the mattress on top and put in place. Is it desirable?

The mattresses are quite steep, I doubt you can do this. Sorry.
