Patella dislocation surgery?

My 11 year old Westie has been diagnosed with patellar luxation. Grade 3. Diagnosed with the disease Addison, 2004. Pred 2.5 per day, DOCPER every 28 days, Cosequin 2xdaily., Pepcid for stomach pains. My concern is surgery and the effect Addison will have on her. We had to change vets from the first diagnosis. She had put on my dog and almost killed Metcam thank God for my Inuit and quick trial call animal poison control and contact addisonsdogs.com. Clearly, a support group! Now we go to a new veterinarian and make an appointment with a surgeon. The surgeon make a new assessment. I do not want my child has a setback. How dangerous this surgery for a dog of AD? Is it useful to put in this type of surgery?

Unless your Westie is 11 years in pain and not moving, I never consider surgery on the knee (patella). Another thing to consider when examining the quality of life is that your dog is now 11 years old. How long has your dog to live with Addison and the effects of daily medications should spend the time to recover major orthopedic surgery? It appears that your veterinarian new saint is more interested in making money as to discuss practical protocols.
