Yahoo will not sell your email from school?

I was wondering if it is true that Yahoo sells e-mail that the list of alternates the signing of a yahoo account. I have an e-mail through Roadrunner I usually use. Within 24 hours of signing up with Yahoo, been getting hit with spam. I received this e-mail for more than a year without problems of spam at all until registered with Yahoo. Then I read online about how the list if you have an email address Yahoo, added to the mailing list bulk and sell them. I do not know if it's true, but I think so. I ended up deleting my Yahoo account and open a new one without an address secondary email and deleted my Roadrunner well. Whether true or not, I just thought to give a hand to hand.
