San Diego

I want to visit san diego. What are unique places to visit there beside san diego zoo?
I was told coronado island. Is it worth it? What about wild animal park, is it the same as san diego zoo? Any suggestions?
Old Town is pretty cute. They have some decent Mexican restaurants and you can walk around and go in the little shops and tour the haunted Whaley House.
A little North of San Diego is La Jolla, which has La Jolla Shores beach, Torrey Pines State Park (which has a glider port and you can go and watch the paragliders jump off and land), and the children’s pool which is always covered in seals and sea lions. There’s some ritzy shops and swanky restaurants and shopping around there.
Mission beach has a nice strandway that you wan walk and bike down, that goes past shops, hotels, condos, and restaurants. And then there’s the Navy stuff…USS Midway, Coronado island, etc.
You can do whale and dolphin tours, or if you’re there on a Friday even stop by MCRD San Diego and watch the Marine Corps graduation ceremonies with all the pomp and pagentry of the US Military (Every Friday at 10 AM…you’ll need a valid ID to get in and they will search the car, otherwise it’s open to whoever.)
Cabrillo National Monument/Point Loma is at the south end of Mission Beach. Balboa Park, which is near the Zoo, is nice to walk around as well, and it’s free. There are beautiful ornate spanish-style buildings throughout.
I’ve never been to the Wild Animal Park in Escondido, although I do hear a lot of good things about it.
