Can I use a back facing baby seat in the back of my truck?

I drive a 2006 ford f-150 with an extended cab(not a full seat, only partial) back seat. Would it be safe to use a back facing baby seat in the back seat? Im not asking opinions but if it is in fact safe or not. I could not find any websites that would support an answer but any links would be appreciated.
My seats dont face the side,they face forward. Is it still dangerous?
