How to stop the transfer of heat through a sliding glass door?

Does anyone have any idea to stop (or reduce) heat transfer by a sliding glass door? I live in Phoenix, AZ. I own a condominium with a sliding glass door to the backyard. During the day, I can feel the heat coming through the window. I have vertical blinds on the door that leave some heat, but it is still very hot in the room. The door is in the shadow of 95% of Sometimes … is more than hot air. So, to put an extra shadow is not going to do much good. Any ideas of other ways to keep warm? All I can add / set / put in front of the door to stop heat transfer? Thanks!
