Heel Pain Treatment
The most common causes of heel pain is a condition called plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a broad band of tissue that comes from the heel along the sole of the foot and connects to the fingers.
The plantar fascia acts like a rubber band between the heel and ball of the foot to form the arch of your foot. If the band is short, you have a big bow, and if long, is a low arch, what some called flat feet. A layer of fat in your heel covers the plantar fascia to help absorb the impact of the march. Plantar fasciitis is often mentioned as a spur Heel is a calcium deposit in the plantar fascia attachment. The heel spur does not cause pain.
Recording
athletic tape applied to the plantar fascia and is working to reduce tensions by preventing the fascia of the tape is attached stretching. The the heel to the base of the toes. Tension is maintained by the band that allows the fascia to rest and heal. The band should stick to the skin to work, because the stress is transferred through the skin. athletic tape specific should be used. Podiatrists recommend that the tape is applied every morning and later removed to allow the skin to breathe.
Tapestry shoes
Shoe inserts are by far the most effective treatment for the management of plantar fasciitis. Help reduce stress at key weight. Keep each foot properly aligned and cradle, which stabilizes the heel. An insert strategically placed heel Poron foam absorbs the shock of hitting each step.
Rest
Initially you should reduce strenuous activities such as sports and long walks to allow the inflammation of the fascia to decrease.
Ice and Heat
proven treatment of plantar fasciitis by alternating application of cold and heat, along with a massage works wonders to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and healing. Use ice packs in the morning and the afternoon heat.
Hot / Cold packs provide therapy that is constantly in contact with pain in muscles, tendons and tissues. Microwave or freeze the packs depending on the cold therapy treatment is desired is particularly beneficial in the treatment of plantar fasciitis (heel pain). Apply therapy Firstly, the cold and heat therapy when the heel is recovering from the stage.
Night splints
night splints, heel pain in the ankle in a standing position to increase and spread, creating a constant mild stretch fascia planting that allows you to heal a functional length.
Accelerate pending FXT plantar fasciitis splint during the night with this low profile, thermal liner filled with cauliflower-W. The PF FXT allows you to sleep comfortably while gently stretching the plantar fascia, the band of tissue connecting the heel to toe. Slip on shoe and adjust the dorsal flexion (amount of tension) to remove the toes to the ankle.
Stretch
One of the most effective treatment options for plantar fasciitis is stretching. Tightness in the plantar fascia occurs if the muscles increases the Achilles tendon and calf in the blood. Tighten these muscles increases in dorsiflexion (upward movement) of great toe stretches the plantar fascia causing it to ignite.
It is logical that reducing stress Achilles tendon and calf muscles have a positive effect on heel pain.
Stretch example
Fascia stretch plant-specific. The patients walk through the contralateral leg, grabbed the base of the toes and pull the toes back to the shin until a stretch the arch is felt. The stretch is held for 10 seconds and repeat. Three sets of 10 repetitions are performed daily.
Corticosteroid injections
Limited evidence supports the use of corticosteroid injections for the management of plantar fasciitis. I have known patients who have had steroid injections in the heel by their physicians and reported severe pain with very little benefit.
Emu Muscle and Joint Gel
This gel, mixed with essential oil of eucalyptus and Blackpepper is excellent for relieving muscle pain, such as heel pain.
Directions: Gently rub a thin layer of gel on the affected area. Repeat up to four times a day with 3-4 hours between applications. If symptoms persist, consult a health professional.
Therapy Extracorporeal shock waves (ESWT)
A relatively new treatment option for heel pain is that ESWT involves using high frequency sound waves to induce neovascularization intensity (Tissue repair). Conjuciton ESWT should be used with other conservative options such as stretching, orthotics, modifications and maintenance activity a healthy weight. The success of ESWT is difficult to establish due to different intensity levels of use by different professionals. However, anecdotal evidence suggests This option can be effective treatment, ESWT is not available in all surgeries podiatrist and usually available only in specialized clinics.
Casting
The cast is rarely a treatment option for heel pain. Podiatrists have applied fiberglass cast with little flex padded ankle dorsal neutral to slightly (top). There have been many long-term studies conducted on this treatment option, but the cast works together in a similar to plantar fasciitis night splints.
Surgery
Surgery for plantar fasciitis should be the last option that the success rate can be as low as 37% to 60%.
