My son got rid of the dogs!?

My dog (black lab mix) has just had his front leg amputated because of cancer. He was doing well. E has a neck, but when he gets in or out of drinking water will move. I tried to stop but he insists on shaking. I noticed that some stitches and discarded an open wound about an inch. No bleeding, but I see the flesh inside.
