Camera Help?

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7, Im thinking of buying a used old Canon EOS 500 (Lol, its nice: P) for € 40, its very much (:, comes with belts and stuff.My lens Lumix DMC apaptor came up with something that puts on the hood .. I lentils (I do not NOWLEDGE parts of the cameras, but I'm really in photography, pretty stupid: D) I have to buy universal adapter lens for the camera? Is there such a thing? and where I can buy one ..? Or would enter I put the adapter on the lens hood?
