What I can do for a sprained thumb?
I use a wrist strap and thumb with a support pin. How long should I use
RI CE R is at rest. A splint that protects the thumb is good, especially to avoid removal of the thumb. At least one week. I is for ice. Especially if the injury is new, put ice cubes and water in a Ziploc bag and place it on a thin towel (do not freeze the skin) in the joint of the thumb. C is for compression to reduce swelling and stabilize the joint. E elevation. Raise your hand on the pillow above heart level. Do not let your hand hang. Keep it up almost all day. You can also take some anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin or Advil. Good luck with it.
