diabetic meters?

when i went to buy my first meter i got a cheap one. a one touch ultra mini. but when i was there i saw that the cost of the meters can go over 100 dollars. why are some cheaper then others? are there certain brands that offer cheaper test strips?

The test strips for all the name brands are about the same price, roughly $50 for 100. You can try the generic brand meters that many drugstores have, their strips cost about 30% less, but they don’t have many features like being able to download your numbers. Wal-Mart has the Reli-On brand, and I think Walgreens has one, too.
