How do you removing a glass tub/shower enclosure in favor of just putting up a shower curtain?

I just bought a condo with a tub/shower enclosure and I’d much prefer a shower curtain. Is it complicated or expensive to remove and enclosure? Will it damage the tub and walls? Any guidance?

It should be an easy thing if it was installed correctly to begin with. First, the glass doors should just lift out from the track (usually the top). Second, remove any screws you can see from the sides top & bottom of the remaining metal pieces. O.k., this is where it gets tricky & you need patience so that you don’t end up with a lot of ugly scratches….if the pieces do not come off after you have removed the screws, then you either have hidden screws(behind a metal panel/channel) or you have an adhesive that is holding the pieces in place. It helps if you can go to a hardware store & ask to see the instruction sheet for a tub/shower enclosure. This will help you to get an idea of where those “hidden” screws or fasteners might be located. It also is helpful to use a metal wire (guitar strings work great) in order to get the bottom piece separated from the outside(front)rim of your bathtub. If you use a screwdriver or metal chisel for removing this piece, be sure to wrap your tool in plastic or masking tape, so that it does NOT scratch your porcelan surface. Good LUCK! Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that your top railing may give you some trouble because it Snaps onto the side pieces, so you may need a little muscle & movement to get it to come off. If you don’t care about how this is done, you can just take a saw & cut through the middle of the top piece & save yourself a whole lot of frustration trying to manuever it out, since 2 small pieces come out faster & safer than one big piece.
