Do I kick pad or plywood under laminate flooring at the pier and beam?

My father is in a wheelchair and weighs pounds 350 or more. They have a type of wood under his belt, but my mother said I could use a tampon in place. Could my father's wheelchair is too heavy and ruin soil? It appears that the pill is not compatible with the heavy wheelchair and my father without cracking or twisting the laminate.
