I just do not have a sling and wristbrace i was wondering if I could still hunt rabbits, birds?

I just brought a deep and has no wristbrace i was wondering if I could still hunt rabbits, birds and other things. I also wandered if I have to buy the proper 3 / 8 "or if you just sling I could buy 3 / 8 "ball or somthing like a hardwarestore. I live in Victoria, Australia, is where I could buy ammunition and wrist i hug.
