carpal tunnel diagnoses, what to expect at the orthopedic office?

I was just diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists quite unexpectedly. My right wrist has symptoms I didn’t even recognise as CT and my left doesn’t have any signs unless doc uses that funny vibrating tuning fork. what should I expect with I see the orthopedic hand specilist? I’m supposed to get a brace. Do these really help or is surgery inevitable?

Carpal tunnel is an infection in the sheathe of the tendon to the hand. They won’t operate unless it’s absolutely necessary. They will start with a brace, meds and physical therapy.
